it's all in the details

Feel like your coffee table could use a facelift? Well lucky for us that can be a pretttttty easy fix. All it could take is switching out the decor that is placed on top of it. Here are a few ideas thanks to Obaz for how to make your coffee table the living room centerpiece, instead of your tv :)

Check out a few of my favorites!

By adding a fresh vase of flowers, your favorite book, magazine, candle, or a cute tray to hold your remotes, your coffee table will feel brand new before you know it! Even if you've had it for twenty five years.. by simply changing out how the top is displayed you can add whole new life to your living room by spending basically nothing.

Brilliant, if you ask me :)

Happy Wednesday!

beach livin'

Although in Provo, Utah we don't live near a "beach" with ocean views as far as the eye can see, we do have a couple options! venturing to Utah lake, going up different canyons for a day at the lake (& we take what we can get!), or going on vacation to somewhere tropical :)

So here are some options for what to wear at the beach, or what to wear if you want people to think that's where you are headed ;)

sunhat $22 beaded blouse $38 tulle skirt $38

maxi dress $54 denim jacket $38 tote $26 necklace $32 hat $22

sunhat $22 blouse $42 necklace $68 romper $54
So whether you're going to the beach or wishing, these outfits are perfect for both!

Enjoy your Monday readers!

living simply

Sometimes, we just need to declutter our lives & live more simply.

Today I'm gonna suggest some quick & easy ways to simplify our lives & better enjoy the good things around us. Living around clutter can not only make the places we live feel busy & chaotic, it greatly effects our minds-- basically mirroring the spaces we live in.

Thanks to this right here, we have awesome suggestions for how to more simply, simplify.

Check them out below:

1. Give yourself 5 solid minutes.
Commit 5 minutes to completing a certain task in your living space. Who knows, you may find you have more time to keep going, or become addicted to whichever task you're completing!

2. Give away one item each day.
Simple enough, start to get rid of things in your home, one at a time.

3. Fill one trash bag.
Grab a simple large trash bag and see how quickly you can fill it, whether it be for trash or donations at a local thrift store.

4. Try the Closet Hanger Experiment.
To choose which clothing pieces to toss, hang all your clothes with the hangers in the reverse direction. After you wear an item, return it to the closet with the hanger facing the correct direction. After six months, you’ll have a clear picture of which clothes you can easily discard. This experiment could also be applied to a number of clutter areas in your home (cleaners, toys, linens, tools, hobbies and craft items).

5. Make a list.
Create a list of areas in your home to declutter starting with the easiest…Then stop once you finish with that area! Make it as simple or as complex as you feel ready for.

6. Take the 12-12-12 Challenge.
A simple task of locating 12 items to throw away, 12 items to donate, and 12 items to be returned to their proper home can be a really fun and exciting way to quickly organize 36 things in your house.

7. Change your perspective.
Change your perspective and begin to notice some clutter you may have missed before. See your home in a new light.. take pictures & view rooms through the picture to see what others see.

8. Experiment with numbers.
Challenge yourself to wear only 33 pieces of clothing for 3 months. If 33 articles of clothing seems too little, adjust the rules as you need by picking a new number. The important thing is to challenge yourself to live with less and see what you learn from the experiment.

9. Use your imagination.
Try asking yourself unique questions like, “If I was just buying this now, how much would I pay?” This can help with removing unnecessary clutter.

10. The Four-Box Method.
Get four boxes: trash, give away, keep, or relocate. Each item in every room was placed into one of the four categories. No item was passed over. Each was considered individually. Some projects can take an hour while others may take days or weeks.

I love this Pinterest picture, because it shows the epitome of simplicity.
If anything, it's always good to have a reminder or two about how to remove clutter from our lives, our homes, & our minds.

So let's start today, together. Soon enough we will be feeling as relaxed as if we are on vacation (hopefully! :))

Thanks for joining me readers.
